I was working in the stock room, humming Under the sea from Ariel the little mermaid. My colleague stepped by to pick up some papers, humming the same song. A little conversation about the music in good old Disney-movies, like Circle of Life from The Lion King followed and he says "This song very much reminds me of Johnny Clegg!"
Which left me in the state of "eehhh..." confused expression, zero association to anything what so ever ".....Johnny.. who..?"
My colleague bursts out "YOUUUTUUUUUBE" and literally runs to his computer.
Due to the (I almost wrote time-difference) age difference, Youtube-situations like this happens all the time at the office. We are all like, very into culture, but havent really discovered the same things throughout the years. Anyway, so he told me that Johnny Clegg is a white southafrican musician, who was an activist against apartheid, and one of the first white southafricans to make music together with black people. He then showed me a few of his songs, and i was completely amazed. This really is good music! His most famous song is Scatterlings for Africa, but the video below is the first song i heard, and what really amazed me, so go ahead and listen, and tell me if you agree :)
